Abstract

Intrathoracic ribs are rare benign anomalies that have been mistaken for more serious lesions on chest radiography; lack of proper recognition of the true nature of the abnormality may prompt invasive investigations. We present a patient with an intrathoracic rib detected on chest radiography, review the literature surrounding the radiographic findings and developmental aspects of this anomaly, and provide diagnostic criteria for this rare entity.
