The electronic cigarette turns nicotine-containing liquid into vapor using battery power. Global sales of electronic cigarettes have grown explosively in a couple of years to ∼$2 billion in 2013. Although this constitutes only a small amount compared with the $800 billion world tobacco market, the fast growth of the electronic cigarette has prompted major tobacco companies to step into production. Continuing fast growth of this product is projected for several reasons.
