INTRODUCTION: Paravertebral and intercostal nerve blockade have been shown to be an effective alternative to general anaesthesia for breast surgery. (1, 2, 3) However breast surgery performed under regional anaesthesia would be unacceptable to the majority of our patients.
This study analyses the effect of combining general and regional anaesthesia on postoperative pain.
