While repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (LDLPFC) has antidepressant properties, the clinical magnitude of this effect remains uncertain. It is unknown whether at sufficient dose and duration the efficacy and safety of rTMS justifies its clinical use in patients with treatment-resistant depression.
