Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Bipolar Disorder was written by two clinicians. The first author, Monica Ramirez Basco, PhD, a clinical faculty member at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, is a psychotherapist with extensive clinical experience treating bipolar patients with cognitive therapy. She has also written a number of self-help books. The second author, A. John Rush, MD, also at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, is an internationally renowned psychiatrist with expertise in unipolar depression. He is one of the original proponents of cognitive therapy and served on the DSM-IV Task Force and as the chairperson of the Mood Disorder Work Group for the DSM-IV.
