It has been suggested that the analgesic efficacy of the adductor canal block (ACB) is due, in part, to the spread of local anesthetic outside the adductor canal. After appropriate exclusion criteria were applied, 15 patients having knee surgery were given ultrasound-guided injections of 20 mL of mepivacaine 1% at the level of the adductor hiatus.
