New guidelines for treating epilepsy in adults were released in December, calling for monotherapy as a preferred therapeutic approach, and the recognition that unique therapies are needed for special needs groups such as women and older adults. The guidelines were announced in a teleconferenced news conference in November, and were published in the December issue of Epilepsy & Behavior.
