I read Dr. Mehlman's letter expressing his concerns about the lack of power analysis in our study. We share the same opinion about the importance and reflections on the correct interpretation of a study of power analysis. However, to the best of my knowledge, there were no similar studies in the literature, at least at the time we performed our study. So, we could not use the standard deviation values necessary to make a power analysis. Instead, we took the number of subjects used in the studies about closed reduction, either with or without preliminary traction (1–4). Thus, our study can be taken as a reference to perform power analysis in the future studies.
