I am writing to commend Dr. Carl Stanitski for his opinion rendered in “Stress View Radiographs of the Skeletally Immature Knee.” 1 For many years I have insisted that our residents do not obtain stress views in suspected cases of distal femoral epiphyseal fractures. It is well known that in even perfectly reduced fractures involving the distal femoral physis, that late sequelae of premature closure, shortening, angulation and rotation are to be expected in over half the cases. It would seem imprudent to add another insult to an already jeopardized growth plate. I rather suspect that many others share this viewpoint.
