The Joanna Briggs Institute was formed in 1996 as an initiative of Royal Adelaide Hospital and the University of Adelaide, and is based in Adelaide, South Australia. It is a membership-based, not-for-profit organisation that develops, promotes and supports an evidence-based approach to health care.
The Institute has collaborating centres across five continents covering the disciplines of nursing, midwifery, aged care, physiotherapy, nutrition and dietetics, podiatry, occupational therapy, and medical radiation.
The Joanna Briggs Institute produces a range of on-line programs and publications, and conducts training programs to assist clinicians, researchers, educators and students to develop best practice in health care based on the best available evidence.
