Abstract

Anaplastic carcinoma of the thyroid is known for its highly aggressive behaviour and rapid spread. While the giant cell variant is a well recognized morphologic pattern, the presence of osteoclast-like giant cells is a rare occurrance. We report a case of anaplastic carcinoma of the thyroid with focal presence of osteoclast-like giant cells occurring in an elderly male patient, diagnosed on aspiration cytology.
