Abstract

Medication errors occur more frequently, but have been studied to a lesser extent, in paediatric than in adult patients. Drug dosages are usually calculated individually according to age and weight, a process that provides a high risk of dosing error. A systematic review summarised data from 16 studies on dosing error in this patient population; extrapolation of the data illustrated the extent of this serious health issue.
