Abstract

Paracetamol (acetaminophen) has an excellent tolerability profile at therapeutic doses. However, after an overdose, paracetamol causes hepatotoxicity and may result in death. Although hepatotoxicity has been reported with therapeutic doses of paracetamol, critical analyses show that most cases actually resulted from overdoses.
