Malaria prophylaxis is important in travellers to malaria-endemic countries. In travellers with renal impairment, dosages of some prophylactic antimalarial drugs (i.e. chloroquine and proguanil) should be adjusted based on the degree of renal impairment. Mefloquine and doxycycline can be given without regard to renal impairment.
