Abstract

Aminoglycoside therapy has many desirable advantages for use in critically ill patients with severe sepsis or septic shock. However, these patients are at greater risk of developing drug-induced nephrotoxicity. The use of aminoglycosides in such patients requires special considerations with regard to dosage regimens and therapeutic drug monitoring.
