Evidence-Based Answer

Citalopram and paroxetine may be effective in treating the pain of diabetic neuropathy, while fluoxetine is not effective. For painful polyneuropathy of various etiologies, escitalopram may be useful, but is limited by adverse effects. Sertraline is not effective in treating patients with chronic pelvic pain (SOR: C, small crossover trials).
