Evidence-Based Answer

When compared with standard diabetes care, BFST-D is associated with a lower HbA1C, increased treatment adherence (especially among adolescents with HbA1C levels >9%), and fewer negative communications regarding diabetes-related conflicts with parents. However, the effect of BFST-D on diabetes outcomes is similar to educational support (SOR: B, multiple studies of single RCT data set).
