Abstract

EVIDENCE-BASED ANSWER

Short-and long-acting inhaled beta2-agonists are better than placebo for protecting against a decrease in forced expiratory volume at 1 second (FEV1) during exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) (SOR: B, meta-analysis with heterogeneity). Daily montelukast with or without inhaled budesonide is better than budesonide alone or budesonide with inhaled formoterol for protecting against a decrease in FEV1 during EIB (SOR: B, single RCT).
