EVIDENCE-BASED ANSWER

Quetiapine does not seem to be any better than placebo for treatment of primary insomnia (SOR: C, small, underpowered RCT). In populations with induced insomnia and mixed insomnia, quetiapine appears about equal to mirtazapine (SOR: C, small RCT) and trazodone (SOR: C, small prospective cohort study).
