No. Development of osteoarthritis over 10 to 16 years is similar in patients treated nonoperatively after a complete ACL tear compared with patients who have undergone ACL reconstruction (33% vs 24%-35%) (SOR: B, metaanalysis of RCTs and observational studies, 1 small RCT).
