Abstract

EVIDENCE-BASED ANSWER

Yes. Regular aerobic exercise and yoga in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) results in moderate to large improvements in inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and executive functioning (SOR: A, meta-analysis of RCTs). Exercise is also associated with moderate improvements in functional measures of ADHD such as memory, cognitive flexibility, and cognitive speed (SOR: B, meta-analysis and systematic review of mostly observational studies).
