Abstract

Phototherapy is efficacious for a variety of sclerosing skin conditions. It is particularly attractive because many of these disorders are considered unresponsive to other therapies. Furthermore, phototherapy offers an alternative to systemic immunosuppressives for patients who cannot tolerate these medications. There are a number of phototherapeutic modalities used for the treatment of sclerosing skin conditions; here, we review the current evidence for the use of UVA1, broadband UVA1, psoralen plus UVA and narrowband UVB phototherapy.
