Abstract

ABSTRACT:We report a case of metal-on-metal hip resurfacing complicated by a reactive synovitis and a large effusion resulting in dislocation, peripheral oedema and groin discomfort. Histological analysis of the retrieved specimens revealed an intense lymphocytosis. Conversion to a traditional hip replacement resulted in resolution of the symptoms.
