Abstract

Human consciousness can be described by means of a linguistic model in which mythic images and narratives bridge conscious and unconscious mental activity, as well as helping to connect individuals with their culture. Information is constantly being exchanged among these three sources through verbal and nonverbal language. Mythology's dialectical structure is illustrated by the analysis of an Australian aboriginal myth.
