Abstract

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia meningitis is rare, occurring more often in patients with severe underlying disease or following a neurosurgical procedure. We report a case of S. maltophilia meningitis associated with an external ventricular drain and review the cases of S. maltophilia meningitis reported in the literature. To our knowledge, ours is the first reported case of successful treatment of S. maltophilia meningitis with moxifloxacin.
