Abstract

Disseminated tuberculosis (TB) is defined as the spread of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to 1 or more organs via hematogenous or lymphatic spread. Genitourinary TB is rare in developed nations, representing between 2% and 10% of extrapulmonary TB cases. Prostate involvement is uncommon; we present a case of disseminated TB resulting in a periprostatic abscess in a patient with advanced human immunodeficiency virus infection.
