Abstract

The present paper deals with the possibility of generation of high-frequency oscillations by electromagnetic shock wave traveling in synchronism with backward spacial harmonics (group velocity is opposite to the phase velocity) along the previously suggested quasi-periodic microstrip transmission line with capacitance cross links based on multilayer heterostructure (exhibiting hysteretic C(V) characteristic) [1-4]. Just as at synchronism with the direct harmonics, in the case of backward wave synchronism a direct transformation of a short videopulse into a radiopulse (100 GHz, 5-10 V) is possible. However the generated radiopulse here can be significantly longer.
