Abstract

Background

More than 5 million people die every year as a result of injuries and violence. The majority of these need multi-sector efforts to their prevention and control. Over the last decade, as a result of the proclamation of the Decade of Action for Road Safety, the inclusion of Target 3.6 in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and increased funding to the area, many interventions are being implemented in countries with varying success rates. This session will focus on the principles that underpin multi-sectoral actions for injury prevention and control, and critically examine both successes and failures around the world.
