Abstract

The kinetics of parathyroid selenomethionine accretion have been studied in the experimental animal before, during, and after a pulse injection of EDTA which significantly lowered plasma calcium levels to 65% of control values. There was no demonstrable change in parathyroid selenomethionine accretion. It appears that the low-calcium stimulus to parathyroid amino-acid uptake requires a more prolonged calcium depletion, the exact duration of which has not been determined.
