Technical principles and clinical application of electronic detail enhancement in roentgen television are described. By distorting the transfer characteristic of the local frequency in the television amplifier, the reproduction of details of the image is varied. Two particular signals for the predominantly horizontal and the vertical details are produced and then added to the original signal. Faint contrasts, fine structures, and contrast edges are considerably accentuated. The method can be used for television fluoroscopy and television scanning of roentgenograms.
