Due to the growing resistance of fungi to conventional treatments for onychomycosis (a condition characterised by fungal invasion of the nail unit) and the development of potentially more effective therapies, interest in this infection has recently increased. This was reflected by the number of onychomycosis-related topics presented at the International Summit on Cutaneous Antifungal Therapy held in San Francisco, US, last week.
