Abstract

An investigational gel formulation of calcipotriol/betamethasone dipropionate [Daivobet Gel, LEO 80185], containing calcipotriol 50 µg/g and betamethasone dipropionate 0.5 mg/g, is effective for the treatment of scalp psoriasis, according to pivotal phase III data from two studies presented at the 65th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) [Washington, District of Columbia, US; February 2007]. In the two studies, a significantly greater proportion of patients treated with fixed combination calcipotriol/betamethasone dipropionate achieved an Investigator's Global Assessment (IGA) of disease severity rating of absence of disease or very mild disease at week 8, compared with patients receiving betamethasone dipropionate, calcipotriol, or the gel vehicle alone.
