Abstract

Abstract.

A home-based, psychodynamically oriented, approach is used to treat two preschool siblings after they witnessed the murder of their mother by their father, and the father's subsequent suicide attempt. The treatment rationale is discussed with emphasis on the needs, vulnerabilities, and coping skills of preschool children. The intervention provides a clear view of the impact of massive psychological trauma, and the children's subsequent attempts to maintain homeostasis.
