Abstract

Investigated the relationships between a set of personality (e.g., existence need desire and growth need desire) and demographic variables and peer nomination measures of innovativeness/technological communication and administrative communication. Ss were 256 professional employees from 3 applied research and development organizations. Innovativeness/technological communication scores were predicted with a multiple correlation of .52 (corrected for shrinkage) primarily by personality variables (high innovative orientation and low need for clarity) but also by a demographic variable (education). Administrative communication scores were predicted with a multiple correlation of .54 (corrected for shrinkage) primarily by the demographic variables of organizational level and age.
