Abstract

Examined a scale developed by the US Civil Service Commission for a study of federal sector union-mangement relationships. The content of the scale covers the aspects of union-management relationships widely discussed in the literature. The scale was administered to 28 managers and 29 union officers from 6 federal government organizations. The measure had a very high internal consistency reliability. Union and management leaders within the same organization had fairly high agreement on the quality of their relationship. The measure correlated highly with 2 other quality criteria. Thus the scale appears to be a useful tool for measuring and comparing the quality of union-management relationships. (17 ref) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
