Abstract

On the basis of WAIS and WISC performance, Z. Dershowitz and Y. Frankel (see record 1975-21109-001) have hypothesized that Jewish Ss are less psychologically differentiated (more field dependent) than Protestant and Catholic Ss. It is argued here that differential intelligence test patterns are better explained in terms of differential emphasis on abilities mediated by the left and right cerebral hemispheres. The hypothesis is advanced that Jewish Ss exhibit a tendency toward left-hemisphere dominance in comparison to Protestant and Catholic Ss: Evidence for and implications of the hypothesis are discussed.
