Abstract

The lengthy debate concerning psychological testing and reliability/validity issues continues. One of these issues which has long had implications for the examinee is card or task rejection. Test anxiety, shock, or low motivation may well represent some of the common reasons for rejection. However, a card rejection on the WAIS Picture Arrangement subtest (LOUIE Card 1M) was found to be the result of either a psychometric or printing oversight (the boy with the plain white shirt had white pants in this card and only in this card). Picture Arrangement is not commonly a disturbing task, and the examinee had already completed the 1st 9 subtests in a positive mood. Assessment implications are discussed.
