Wechsler Object Assembly and bodily concern: A behavioral extension with prisoners

Abstract

Examined the relation between bodily concern and WAIS Object Assembly (OA) subtest performance. The dependent measures were frequency of justified and unjustified sick-call visits made to a prison dispensary by 30 low-OA inmates and a matched group of 30 high-OA inmates. Contrary to some reports, the current results failed to support the OA-bodily concern hypothesis. Low-OA Ss did not make significantly more frequent visits to the prison dispensary for either medically justified or medically unjustified reasons than did high-OA Ss. Caution is advised in the interpretation of low-OA scores on the WAIS scales. (5 ref) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
