Abstract

An evaluation of strain gauge and LVDT pressure transducers was performed in an attempt to isolate some easily detectable parameter which might foretell the condition of the unit before each use. An analysis of STATHAM-GOULD P23Db strain gauge and HEWLETT PACKARD 1280C LVDT pressure transducers indicated a relationship between zero offset and major changes in calibration factor (sensitivity). The number of units with major changes in calibration factor increased as the offset exceed one hundred millimeters of mercury. A simple and practical method of checking zero offset is indicated.
