Abstract

Describes the development and validation of an instrument designed to measure the ability to identify and respond to issues in an ongoing group. Data are presented from 161 undergraduates, 22 paraprofessional counselor trainees, and 48 professional group leaders. Possible uses of the instrument include evaluating training programs, assessing the competence of group leaders, and selecting paraprofessionals to be trained as group facilitators.
