Abstract

J. E. Staddon's (see record 1980-26771-001) criticism of the conservation model of operant conditioning, described by the present author et al (see record 1980-27214-001), is evaluated. Contrary to Staddon, the model implies a bitonic relation between the instrumental requirement and total instrumental responding. Also contrary to Staddon, conservation models may account for performance on interval schedules. (9 ref) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
