Abstract

In the NICU context, Yakson is defined as a mother's gentle, nurturing, and soothing touch that is meant to comfort her newborn and results in the newborn's physically relaxed and emotionally stable condition, the mother's satisfaction and confidence, and stronger mother–infant interaction and attachment. Although this concept analysis is based on Korean culture, the understanding of Yakson can help nurses promote this feasible practice to enhance mother–infant interaction and attachment in the NICU.
