Abstract

Objective

To evaluate the clinical and surgical findings of cyclic vaginal bleeding after total hysterectomy.

Methods

Records of seven patients with cyclic vaginal bleeding after hysterectomy, seen during 1966 to 1993, were reviewed retrospectively.

Results

Advanced pelvic endometriosis with vaginal involvement and active ovarian function was responsible for the cyclic vaginal bleeding in all cases.

Conclusion

Advanced pelvic endometriosis must be suspected in patients with cyclic vaginal bleeding after total hysterectomy.
