When Dr. John Powell wrote in response to the “Historical Perspective” regarding Otto Kiistner, I was intrigued by his “Pearl-of-the-Week” format for sharing some highlights in the history of pelvic surgery with his residents and medical students. We published his “Pearl” regarding “Kustner's Sign or Kuster's Sign” with his letter to the editor in the September/October issue of the Journal of Pelvic Surgery. In this issue, we inaugurate the “Historical Notes in Pelvic Surgery” column to share these anecdotes by Dr. Powell with our readers.
