BackgroundPeripartum cardiomyopathy is abnormal heart muscle function, where the heart chambers enlarge and the muscle weakens, which can lead to heart failure and even sudden death (Givertz 2013). It has a high mortality and morbidity rate (7-50%) (Okeke et al 2013). The incidence worldwide is unknown (Karaye & Henein 2013).
