Abstract

A culture of incivility can compromise team professionalism and patient safety. Incivility comes in many forms, including verbal or nonverbal abuse, passive aggression, and bullying. Facilities can address incivility by adopting a zero-tolerance policy and holding educational sessions teaching methods such as cognitive rehearsal, simulation, and mixed-intervention.
