Executive SummaryMost notable on the legislative health care agenda in 2003 was the enactment of The Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003.However, a plethora of bills were introduced during the brief time Congress was in session in December 2003. These bills may or may not advance in the 2004 legislative session.What gets put on the policymaking table, whether it stays there, and what shape it ultimately takes, will be influenced by its potential political impact.Nurses, well respected and well educated, can be critically important contributors to what happens on both policy and political fronts in 2004.
