Abstract

(Am J Obstet Gynecol. 2017;216(1):78.e1–78.e2)

When performing a cesarean hysterectomy for placenta percreta, a classical hysterotomy is often created, which can lead to significant blood loss (500 to 800 mL) before performing the hysterectomy. Reducing blood loss during this part of the surgery could lower overall blood loss and therefore the quantity of blood product transfusion and/or crystalloid/colloid infusion.
