Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) using cell-free DNA (cfDNA) technology has been shown to accurately detect trisomy 21, as well as fetal sex in the first trimester. The predictive values of NIPT for other aneuploidies such as sex chromosome aneuploidy (SCA) are not as well understood.
