In recent years, there has been increasing emphasis on creation of programs for enhanced recovery, fast-track, or multimodal pathways to improve perioperative care. Decreasing discharge narcotic use may be important to maximize patient safety and satisfaction, decrease postoperative complications at home, and expedite return to baseline functional status.
